If you are attracted to a Cancer native then get ready to do a lot of petting and stroking of the ego. They are one of the highest maintenance of all of the signs. This sign craves physical contact and lots of affection. He or she also needs more than the usual amount of emotional reassurance as well.

What is most problematic about wooing a Cancer is the way you always have to show him or her that you are "working on the relationship." This means keeping your promises, always doing what you will say you will do and following through when you say you will do something to progress the relationship.

This makes it hard to just casually mention anything to this sign because they have memories like elephants. For instance if you say you are thinking, "Maybe I will rent a cottage for us for the summer", you better do it or the Cancer feel deprived. One of the worst things you can do to a Cancer is set up an expectation and then not meet it. Not only will you hear about it but so will all of the Cancer's friends.

Unlike their symbol, the Crab, a Cancer does not stay in his or her shell. These individuals do really think that "it takes a village to raise a child." They may think that it takes a village to do everything else too. One way to a Cancer native's heart is to make a real effort to get along with his or her friends. You will also be expected to get along with the butcher, baker and babysitter as well.

Don't expect to get anywhere with a Cancer if his or her mother can't tolerate you. Make sure that if you are invited over to dinner that you bring a gift for mom as Cancers are very much influenced by their mother's opinion.

Furthermore you better have your relationship with your own mother in good standing as well. A Cancer does not like individuals who are on the wrong side of a parental figure. As they are ruled by the moon, even the most artsy or anti-authoritarian of Cancers have a deep appreciation for their mothers. The more in touch you are with your feminine side the better too!

Cancers are very sentimental in general. If they see that you love to take photographs of them with their loved ones then they will be deeply impressed. This is why a picture frame or a photo album is such a perfect gift for them.

Missing an anniversary or important birth date is a big no no with this sign. It can be the deal-breaker that destroys the relationship so make sure you know what dates are significant to him and her. In fact, be sure to keep a record of everything that might possibly be a meaningful date to your Cancer lover including the day you met, the first time you had dinner together, the first time you had sex, etc. Celebrating these dates even in a minor way means the world to the Crab.

If you really want to woo a Cancer make a scrapbook or piece of wall art (like a collage) of your last date or trip together. This makes them feel like you understand them on a deep level. Cancers are very nostalgic and treasure records of their adventures with others until the end of their years.

Yet another thing that Cancers love are outings that include their children are family. A Cancer would appreciate a family picnic more then a trip to a fancy restaurant.

Cancers also like a person who is into entertaining others as much as they are. They love to have a good friend drop by everyday. If you are a good host or hostess and know how to make others feel comfortable you will capture their heart.

All Cancers love to cook. The men are particularly proud of their barbecuing. One of the worst things you can do to a Cancer is criticize his or her cooking. Even if the food is awful pretend it is delicious as Cancers quickly develop contempt for those people who do not share their taste in food. Unfortunately they are also picky eaters.

Cancers don't react very well to stress so one of the secrets to keeping one forever is to not burden him or her with your problems. They also dislike being pushed into things such as making introductions or job interviews.

Don't make them take tests or playing games that require a great deal of mental concentration. Cancers are terrified of failing when they compete so involving them in sports related activities is also not the best idea. They are more likely to be happy in a bar or a club where they can have lots of social interaction rather than in a theater where they have to sit through a play.

One of the worst things you can do to a Cancer is force them into public speaking. Never push him or her into making a toast or into getting up onstage to say something if they are not ready or you may never be spoken to again.

Cancer natives are students of human nature and they love to go people watching. Taking them to the mall, outdoor cafes and beaches is a great idea so they can observe everyone else. They also like to gossip and in fact when a Cancer loses a friend it is usually because the Cancer could not resist sharing a rumor.

Once Cancers develop a grudge it is also hard to get them to let go of it. Never tell a Crab who or why they should make peace with someone as they will think you are defending the other person and accuse you of being disloyal.
